Feeling good is something that everyone wants, but it can be difficult to achieve at times, however it is possible to 'Feel Good on Purpose', and it's worth making the effort.
Why is it Important to 'Feel Good on Purpose'?
It's so easy to get wrapped up in all the negative things happening in our lives, which brings more negativity, but it's so important to make a conscious effort to focus on the good things too.
To 'Feel Good on Purpose' is a natural state of being and has a few benefits including:
- Improved mental and physical health.
- Increased happiness and satisfaction.
- Stronger relationships.
- Increased productivity and creativity.
- Greater resilience in the face of challenges.
- Increased self-esteem and confidence within ourselves.
Mental Health
Mental health may still be a taboo subject to some people and cultures, but everyone goes through some form of mental ill health even though we may not see it as that. Stress, anxiety, low mood and depression all come under the mental health umbrella.
Our thoughts, how we feel and our emotions may get muddled and 'foggy', we may let our pride get in the way and tend to bottle things up - telling ourselves that no-one is interested or we don't want to burden people with our problems, yet as time goes on we may start to feel worse in ourselves.
No matter how big or small an issue is or how low we are feeling, the best thing we can ever do is TALK TO SOMEONE - a close friend, family member or work colleague or call a helpline like the Samaritans, but do reach out to someone.
This includes talking to your GP, Nurse or other health practitioner about how you're feeling. The saying 'a problem shared is a problem halved' is absolutely true. It maybe easier said than done, but talking to someone can make the world of difference between life and death.
Please choose life ❤️
How To 'Feel Good on Purpose'?
There are various steps we can take to 'Feel Good on Purpose', here's a few suggestions:
- Start each day with a positive intention, like taking time out to do something nice for yourself or someone else. An intention can also be set for how you want your day to go, be or feel.
- Spend time in nature like walking in the park, hike in the woods, be near water or simply sitting outside enjoying the fresh air has been shown to have several benefits to our mental and physical health.
- Focus on the positive. 'Feel Good on Purpose' by taking time each day to appreciate the things you are grateful for, either first thing in the morning on waking up, or just before going to sleep at night. Think of at least 5 things you are grateful for. This could be anything from the sun shining, your health and having a roof over your head to a loved one making you breakfast, waking up each morning and being alive.
- Laughter is the best medicine. If you're feeling down or fed up, think of something that makes you smile, brings you joy or just laugh out loud (LOL). Remember when a child or pet did something funny? A friend that made you laugh so much that you (happy) cried till your stomach hurt? How about watching a movie or comedy that made you laugh. Think of something funny to lift your mood.
- Spend time with friends and family. Having social interaction and making time for people who are important to us not only nurtures our relationships but is also essential for our well-being.
- Taking good care of ourselves helps us to feel good like eating healthily and drinking plenty of water; exercising regularly; getting enough sleep and also taking time to relax and de-stress. Reading, writing, journaling and watching/listening to motivational talks and seminars/webinars are all good ways to 'Feel Good on Purpose'.
- Helping others is so rewarding and a good way of 'getting out of our own heads'. Doing something for someone and being able to make a difference is uplifting and a great way to 'Feel Good on Purpose', whether its checking in on an elderly neighbour, sweeping a neighbours doorway or carrying someone's shopping.
Music is soothing to the heart and Soul. There's nothing better than listening to your favourite song, having music on blast whilst singing and dancing with (or without) the hoover, or just having a good old party by ourselves and going for it - just let go.
- Do things that you enjoy doing. Investing in ourselves like getting our hair done; having a manicure or pedicure; a massage; wearing a particular outfit and buying clothes or jewellery can also make you 'Feel Good on Purpose'.
Our jewellery and accessories are made with intention and attention to detail, and designed not only for you to look good but to feel good wearing them too.
